Re: Sohc Vtec (Nameless)
whoknows. It's vtec-e btw.
I hear mine kick in around 5000-5500rpm. As I understand it, there has to be a number of conditions met before vtec kicks in, so I don't know that anyone can tell you exactly the magic number.

Uh, I don't think so dude. EX is D16Y8, normal VTEC motor by most standards. Now, if we're talking the HX model...That's another story.

HX=VTEC-E
EX=VTEC
on your car it should kick in at 5500 rpm if its warmed up..but on SOHC's you can barely notice the changeover...

Re: Sohc Vtec (siqcivic)
on my old Z6, i could hear VTEC engage at about 5500 RPM's. to actually hear anything, you'll need a short ram or CAI.
VTEC only works on the intake side of SOHC's.

Re: Sohc Vtec (civicdxtyper)
On 96-00 its between 5,5 - 5,7 just depends on the pressure and tempature; no 96-00 kicks in at anything lower than 5,5 unless u have a vtec controller which i wouldnt recommend u setting it to any lower than 5 unless u want lag.
