SOHC Turbo Numbers?
Hey, I have been batting this question around in my head for a while and with a couple minutes until I go out I decided to ask everyone what they would be impressed with from a sohc, lets use a d16z to keep everything straight. I haven't built anything internally but I have basically done everything else I could to get my numbers up. I don't want to give my numbers because if I'm slow I want to know I'm slow and if I'm quick I don't want to sound like I'm bragging. I'm honestly just wondering what is good. I don't have many friends, or many people with sohc turbos to compare myself to so I'm turning to you all for help. I thought about posting in the turbo section but I figured you all would be more help. So what's good, or respectable for that matter?
edit: spelling....watz a spel chek?

I don't know... that's what I said actually.. fawk, I can't find the post... someone had in there signature 309whp @ 15? psi on a stock bottom end D series. Then there was a link to another message forum where they were talking about it , and there were some dyno sheets posted... GOD! where is it...

Re: (BlackNoise)
yes very impressive number for him...but isnt realistic..he drives it once a week and to me u cant drive like that everyday or his motor would be gone in a month...his car does push alot of power tho for a stock bottom end...i run 200+ with my 10 psi...now that i have my afc hack up and running again i think i can push 210-220 with about 11psi...daily driven...d15b vtec dont fail me now...
here is a pic i know all u are visual learners......

Hahahahahaha hell no!!Boosted ED9 is just crazy
when i built mine i wanted reliablity also. my goal is 400-450whp and i know a stock internal SOHC wont do it.

Re: (TurbodCX)
okay, because i am trying to compare myself with other cars that have not been internally modified. Good numbers but not something I can realistically compare myself to.

Why are you against aftermarket internals? Are you on a tight budget?

Re: (sappsycho)
I am on a tight budget and am curious
BTW: anyone have good websites where I can
A) read up on the Greddy Turbo Kit or
B) read up on the junkyard turbo setup?
(my motor is a D16y8 *hopefully* if that makes a difference)

Re: SOHC Turbo Numbers? (BlackNoise)
i was also curious about turbos...
i was thinkin of a b series swap or keep d series and go turbo... would it cost about the same? (including pistons, rods and whatever else i need to upgrade)
are turbos reliable?
what usually fails the most in a turbo setup?

Re: (sappsycho)
well, the only numbers i have for my car is a 1/4 mile time
14.8 @92mph at 6psi of boost , street tires read my sig for car specs :0) hope this helps, i havent hit a dyno yet...
btw, the 1/4 time was using a side mount dsm intercooler, i have since replaced it with the FMIC. Latez

I guess you could say that but I'm actually just seeing how I compare as I am today and right now I haven't done any internal modifications so anyone who has is obviously ahead of me in the game and their whp should reflect that.

Re: (eg6turbo)
Well if you want the numbers I belive with all the post I have read and seen and the numbers run by numerous cars I belive the stock maximum on a d series depends on what type of setup you have and how well tuned it is. The maximum potential is somewhere in the 260-300 flywheel power. but you have to have a better fuel pump, fuel regulator, probably a injector controller or a complete stand alone and larger injectors or additional injectors, intercoolers, some type of Timing boost device, So its quite a bit to hold up if you want more then it will come down to replacing the Rods and Pistons. How fast is fast well in the V8 crowd they think anything under 13 seconds is considered quick. Thats with huge Honking v8s So for a d series 1.5.=1.6 thats short of amazing. dont ya think!
