Default SOHC Experts, need some info...

So I bought a 93 DX hatch for a pretty decent price.. it's got the stock D15B7 under the hood, but it's got a serious ring problem. goes through a quart of oil in less than 200 miles. i think the last owner might have run the oil level a little low, and now this thing has a knock when you first start it.

anyway, instead of throwing some rings and bearings in it, i picked up a d16y7 from a 98 DX. i was planning on just throwing this longblock in there.. but before i begin, i wanted to see if anyone knows..

1- are the bolt patterns for the intake manifold the same?
2- is the water passage the same at the manifold?
3- will the b7 distributor work, as far as timing is concerned? (i remember a friend of mine had an issue with this when he was doing mini-me.)

worst case scenario, i could either re-pin the distributor or just swap the guts over.. but it'd be rad if i could just use the existing d15b7 dizzy.

thanks!

1. they're the same
2. they're the same but what year is the y7?
3. the only different dizzy bolt pattern is 92-95 vtec. d15b/d16z6/d15z1 use the "vtec" bolt pattern. all 88-91, nonvtec-92-95, and all 96-00 dizzys have the same bolt pattern.

the y7 is from a 97 or 98. i can find out for sure tomorrow.

ok, so the bolt pattern for the dizzy is the same.. but i am wondering if the angle is the same at the cam. i was going to just put both motors at tdc, and pull the caps off the dizzy's.. but if it's only a few degrees, you won't be able to see that, and a few degrees at the motor is major. i just want to be 100% sure.

so you think this is a no problem, straight bolt-in? should be done in like 3 hrs?
