Ok so I found this Best Motoring Video about VTEC magic. A ITR owner increased his power output by disabling his VTEC. He wanted to make his engine have maximum output. Here is what he did...

1. Disable the VTEC engagement

2. Upgrade to a lightweight Vavle Train

3. Replace the Low CAMs with High CAMs

By doing this, he basically forces the car to run in "VTEC" all the time. Supposedly there is a drop in power between 4-6k but increases everywhere else.

Has Anyone ever done this? I would really like to know how the car Runs/ Feels with this done

Not sure, how do those work?

*EDIT* I just went and researched them. It's looking like they might be the same thing.

Anyone running the Toda vtec killer cams, and if you are, did you disable your VTEC?

It is a very good strip set up, but horrible for DD...

I would reccomend against it for any one tooling around town

:repeat: set up only good for the track

I have that Best Motoring DVD and he used the Toda VTEC killer cams, the test drivers really liked the car, except for it being extremely loud

*sigh*

VTEC killers are great for pure racing engines. VTEC is about economy and a decent idle under a certain RPM. When dealing with a pure racing engine, these characteristics dont mean ****, so basically by upgrading the valvetrain, shedding some weight, and spinning the engine higher than ever before, they produce extra amounts of top end power, which is usually where most races take place. and if i remember correctly, the reviewers said there was a ridiculous LACK of power below 6k.

Exactly, A lot of people don't understand that the vtec function was created so that you could run a small cam lobe for economy purposes but still have a large lobe above a certain rpm for some added performance.

I believe it was so loud beacause it had no type of sound dampening material or carpet. Plus it had a full titanium exhaust and I bet he had a test pipe too.........

it was very loud because of the exhaust and the fact that the car was runing individual throttle bodies.
that car was using toda vtec killers. the drivers did not like of the lack of power under 6k on the car.

Super Touring Hondas have done this a decade ago.

But for the street it defeats the purpose of certain VTEC engines, which is to combine the characteristics of two different kinds of engines for different situations.

Anyone ever ran these CAMs in a daily driver?

I don't think they would be that bad if you just drove conservativly & when you needed the power (*not saying you would on the street*) then you would have it.

The Lower the RPM the Less fuel you will use right?
