Default So yeah ..i blew the LS ..so moved onto the next temp motor :) *pics*

so yeah, the thing was burning too much oil and guess with me beating on it it was its time ..so i spun a rod bearing .. it was acting up ..then i got home, jacked her up to mess with my exhaust and then i put her back down start her up and i hear a tap tap tap tap ..and it gets louder with the rev's and then after a while it was clank clank tap tap tick tick ..oh boy ..she's dead.

so yeah moved on to my temp motor #2 hopefully this one will last.. needed a motor asap and my boy had a B16 longblock so i threw that in..

here's the motor prepped and ready to go in.

and of course a lil shot of the garage that was lended to me by my boy jayson, you can see the dead LS on the side there .. RIP b18b

the EG ..naked .. gasp!

my two helpers *cough* i did all the damn work *cough* jay + jose ..btw jay blew his headgasket on his altima, jose is the nissan especialist.

me goofin off

well she's all done .. running like a champ ..no vtec yet .. LS ecu

wanted to ask you guys if you knew what the sensor on the B16A2 fuel rail is for? the one on the pass side top? because my motor hesitates on startup like it wants to shut down on a cold startup, but on a warm startup it fires up right away.

also im about to try out a gsr ecu, how does it run on a 2000 b16A2 ?
anyways comments welcome

i highly suggest gettin a p30 or a chipped p28.
p72 bogs the hell out of the motor.

i think u are refering to the evap sensor bypass. if this is a 99 si motor, i am not sure about the jdm ones.
i am not sure if that is the real name.
but for obd2 cars it is need, it is a regulator that sends air to the evap canister. you dont need it for obd1 cars just replace the whole thing with hose or cap it. it should be fine.

yes.

phantoman, thanks. also anyone know what is causing me to bog on start up? cold startup it tries to idle then almost shuts off ...and it takes about 3 seconds of cranking .. on warm it starts up quick and idles fine .. anyone?

is that usdm or jdm b16A2.?
also, are you referring to a fluxuating idle or rough?

usdm 2000, well the idle did seem a lil flux, and it idles @ 2k but thats prob from when i changed the TPS, but when i start the car when its cold, it will crank for a few seconds ..stutter a tad then vrooom ....as the rpm's drop down ..it will sink way past 1k ..and start stumbling... come up a lil then back down ..

on a warm start its ignition ..vroom ..then drops and idles at around 1.2k .. after driving around idle is around 2k

on the back of the intake manifold.
plug up all the pipes. to make sure it is not leaking air from there.
i have seen the prob before and it is because the the hose was connected to the wrong area.
also , your tps may be bad, see if you can borrow another throttle body and test it out.
also, ur idle is too high, i think it has been adjusted, check the throttle body and adjust it from there.

all on ur distr. is the timing set at the factory setting? if not trying retarding the distrib alittle maybe it may smooth out like that.

are you runing cams or high compression pistons?

i'm running a gsr ECU on b16a1.. it works fine.... i had a reprogrammed p28 on my car a while ago and i didnt like as much as the p72.... people dislike the 2 stage of vtec...(butterflies on the gsr motor) but it doesnt bother me...

My car use to do that until I figured out what it was, it had to pump the gas.
So next time your start the car, put in the second position(bout 3sec.) but dont start it. Just let the fuel pump pump some gas and then give it a try. Hope that helped

Wont the gsr ecu try to look for the secondaries butterflies on the intake mani? What are you going to do bout that?

secondaries won't matter.
the ecu will send the signal, its just hta it won't go anywhere
4500rpm for vtec transition is way too low though

it doesn't matter if IAB ias connected or not . no codes whatsoever.

but indeed GSR ecu does run really poorly. but its low vtec can be a plus with the tranny he is running. at least between the shifts you won't get out of vtec.

check my sig if you're looking for a cheap dohc vtec ecus (chipped p28/P91/P08 variety)

Exactly. I'm using a Mugen program in my PR3 and my VTEC is at 4,500 rpm.

ight seems i found two people local that i can get either a P30 jdm or a jdm PR3 from so tonite i will have an ecu, i just havent wired it in.

well i found out i didnt plug in the coolant temp sensor plug ..lol ..left it hanging cuz i had to extend it so its now in and my idle is perfect ..

about the temp sensor ..ima rig something up

well i got the PR3 ecu ..everything is supa. no check engine lights.. motor runs real good and vtec pops in lovely ..taken her to 8400rpm ..then shift .. im scared going that high damn b16s ..anyways car runs and idles like stock ..everything is smooth as a babies butt ..

btw i can do swaps for anyone cheap. let me know
i have all tools, lift and knowledge.

all i need now is a diff tranny ..holy crap the LS is slow to climb RPM's ..ima get a GSR tranny and trade my LS + cash. didnt think it would make a diff but hell yeah it does
