smog station said my car was canadian.
haha..so i have a bone stock civic other than a jdm cluster i just put in...and i went to go get it smogged...the guy said he couldnt test it because it was a canadian car and that i had to go to a ref...sooo, im gonna put my stock cluster back in and go to a different smog station...i just thought i would share because i thought it was pretty funny. "my cars not canadian ey"
oh and so i dont get flamed for this being non-technical...does anyone know exactly what was changed in the 96-98 civics to the 99-00. i know the obvious (bumpers, head and tail lights, climate control)...but then the ecu's went from obd2a to obd2b...so what exactly was changed that they made the ecus different?

because canada has different smog regulations...and so according to him the ref had to approve it.

Re: (spork motorsports)
That is not gonna happen. As the manual states:
The vehicle appears to NOT have been originally manufactured to California or USEPA requirements. These vehicles are considered grey market / direct import vehicles and may include many Canadian and Mexican market vehicles.
**Page 96 Smog Check Inspection Manual.** Under additional reasons for a referee inspection.
He did exactly what he is supposed to do.
Call the referee scheduling center at 1-800-622-7733. and you will need to get a bar label so you don't have to go thru this again, and again, etc...
Sorry for the bad news, but good info

Re: (fmrprojects)
Is it a Canadian car or just the cluster? I don't think he would fail it on the cluster alone. Unless the check engine light was not working, or missing. Got a pic of the cluster? and could you get a pic of the emissions label under the hood. These will get us to the bottom of this.
