Smog Referee Failure, need info on what to do HELP
I bought my 96 civic from a friend who did the swap, but couldn't get a hold of him right away. He swapped in a 99 B18B1 with a 96 computer. The referee said the computer year had to match up with the 99 setup. I just found out from him that upgrading the computer wouldn't work because of theft deterant problems on the newer computer. My other alternative was to switch out everything to a 96 setup. Two main things that concerned the inspector was the EVAP canister was different and he wasn't sure if a 96 ls had the fast idle thermo valve in M/T. Smog passed great there were no problems with that, just the visual inspection didn't pass. I don't kno much about cars and need some info. Please help!

personally, i would just tell the ref that it's a 96 motor. i have a 95 motor with 96 tranny (you can tell b/c of the VIN on the tranny). the ref just had to make sure that the 96 tranny was the same as the 95.
to the best of my knowledge, all obd2 b series motors don't have the fitv. the 96 should be the same as the 99.
