Default small NA build

hey i am planning on doing a small but agressive street NA build. I am going to run skunk 2 pro 2 cams w/ the full new vavle train w/ skunk 2 cam gears. i am trying to pick between the skunk 2 IM or the victor x IM....opinions please. I also plan on using a high flow fuel rail. also is a larger throttle body worth the money? all this will be put on a JDM B16A. thanks

No, he just will have zero low end and it will be very peaky, especially with the Victor-X. His cam and manifold selection is suited for a high comp, high CFM, 2.0L.

my brother had the exact setup on a b16, i tried tuning it and wow.. it made no power anywhere though it made a **** ton of noise.

he would be just fine with the cam and intake manifold setup if he were using a nice high compression piston/rod combo, or even a stroker kit.

OP: your choice vs. my choice..
S2P2 cams
S2 valvetrain
S2 cam gears
S2 or Victor Intake
(throttle body)

Blox A's
Omni/Rocket valvetrain
S2 cam gears
AEBS intake manifold
power throttle body
with the money saved by buying cheaper valvetrain/cams/manifold, get your head cleaned up. also invest in a good header (if you don't have one already).

that would be my route with about the same budget.

My choice...

Rocket M21X cams
Rocket Sl valve train
stock cam gears
ITR IM
Toda Header

A customer of mine with a similar setup (his cams were degreed in, no Toda header, just an average header), tuned = 168whp.

Toda headers are overpriced..

for the same grand that you're going to drop on one...why not get a hytech knockoff and gsr block?

Toda has the best header you can get for a B16. Thats why Dave @ SMSP won't make a B16 header. And why support knockoff companies? They don't support the industry.

I am proud to say I support the knockoff companies. Why should I give two ***** if they support "the industry?" They bring cheaper than competetive pricing to "the industry" and back up their product..what more do you need to ask? I'm not going to disagree with Toda being the best B16 header, but why waste a grand on a piece that's going to be outdone by **** one third the price when you decide to up your displacement? Really all i'm saying is that he can go and buy a block AND a header that will probably make 20whp more than the Toda piece at the same price.

did he run the skunk 2 pros or just regular skunk 2 stage 2? i have been thinking of stepping down to the pro 1's... the reason i wanted the pro 2's was for more top end and a lil bit higher redline. I also LOVE the choppy sound the bigger cams make... but thats besides the fact.

A customer of mine with RM M22X in a stock B16B made peak whp at 9,200. M22X has similar secondaries as the Pro1. Not worth it unless you have short gearing (customer also got a MFactory close gear set) and don't care about any get up and go for the streets.

So $1,000 + for the longblock, mounts, $700'ish for the adaptor kit...

Yes, H2B kick ***, but he already has the B16.

Power isn't everything. Weight, gearing, etc.

Gearing is solved. A full H series swap weighs 38 pounds more than a B series. Hardly an issue.

Gearing isn't solved. B16 gearing isn't that great. Expecially for shifting at 8.5k+.

I'm happy with my bolt on D16. Shorter gearing than a B16, more torque than a B16, a lot less weight than a B16. 40hp less and I still manage to eat them up.

I'm not disagreing with you on the B series ability to produce power...I was just throwing an option out there.
