Default slower than a d16z6?

Ok I got a b17a1 that is built for turbo (8.5:1 CR)

I am getting ready to put it in N/A so i kinda was trying to guage how much it will suck. I plan to get it wideband o2 tuned and run an aftermarket cheapo header....

So what do you think? Will it at least be faster than my d16z6? Oh yeah, it has a pyr racing head too, i dunno if that matters....

definetely,
that would be such a waste of money,
i'm sure you'll be able to survive with a slow car for a while until you can get your turbo setup complete.

if you're low on funds, then even MORE reason not to waste money on N/A stuff,
put the money you were gonna spend on cheap headers into a part for your turbo kit, like a fuel pump, or some charge piping or something!!

ya if you noticed i am trying to get some H-T guys to help me swap it in, hopefully the savings produced by that will allow me to buy a turbo kit. If not I will just run slow for a while.

By aftermarket header i just meant A header so i can run it n/a, cause right now i got no header .

Yeah I def wasnt gonna try to make it fast n/a.

But will it be driveable n/a for now? I mean it wont be slow the the point of uselessness.....?

It will be driveable just slow. Personally I would not even bother wasting the $50 on a header for that motor. Good luck with the project

dont buy them cheap headers from ebay i bought one and had to throw it away cause the flange was welded crooked which is why a $300 header costs less than $100

Why don't you just wait on the swap? Is your current motor dead?

I'm gonna guess that it will be driveable with the low compression...

you dont have any header you can get anywhere?
the ebay ones wont be 50bucks,
they'll rape you on shipping charges.

but good luck

and yeah it'll be fine to drive.

my 70hp cx was perfectly fine to drive,
i'm sure your low comp b17 will be fine too.

yeah i have a fine d16z6 in there right now but the new engine has been sitting around for so long i know if i dont do something with it soon it will turn into one of those neverending projects.

So im gonna put it in n/a for winter and break the build in a little more then come spring it will be time for the juice (boost)

the z6 will be faster in first and second gear but at freeway speeds the better breathing b17 head should make up and be faster than the z6. Id just wait till you have all your turbo stuff to swap it in. The engine should be fine over the winter, just spray some lube in the spark plug holes and tape off all the portsmake sure the engine is sitting up, bring it inside if you can too.

yeah... sad news is engine has been istting outside for almost a year with a arp and a hood over it

Time to swap the bitch in! I dont need the boost during the winter anyway. And since there are only 500miles on the engine build i would like to break it in some more before boost as well

that sounds like a very good idea to me
dump some standard oil in there with a thick weight another 1000 miles and drive it real soft
