Re: skunk2 sohc intake manifold vs d16y8 (bearboy80)
skunk2 claims 8whp over y8 IM after tuning.
people on this forum have shown dynos w/edelbrock IMs on near stock engines gaining 5-6whp without tuning.
My edelbrock should be here this week
btw... you the guy that I sold my rotas to?

no i got no rota. so i guess edelbrock is best intake manifold for soch. but are they talking about the whp gain on FI cars or stock car?

I bought a cheap *** SSautochrome intake manifold for my D15Bvtec and it seems to have helped alot of my turbo setup, but I dont think it would help on an all motor application. It probably only helps just because it is bigger and I am just forcing air through it.....

me and my friend put the skunk2 manifold on his y8 without tuning and we didn't feel ****. Probably no more than 1whp. I've heard you gain much more power with an adjustable fpr though.

I like my ported y8 intake mani. I won't be spending the extra money on that Skunk2 or Edlebrock or anything.

have you had any problems with your y8 manifold leaking boost out of 2 little holes that mate up to the head.
ive got a ported y8 with a hondata gasket and i swear its leaking boost because the hondata gasket doesnt cover the holes. its really pissing my off.

You probably have a 99-00 Manifold with Air Injection ports.
Skunk2 got 8whp after raising the fuel pressure.
I got 5 whp from the Edelbrock IM by just bolting it on.
Also, AEM has made a CAI for the Edelbrock manifold that added 10 whp in the midrange and 5 more peak.
All this on a stock engine.
Of course this IM from Edelbrock is also the intake manifold that is included in their turbo kit as well.

They make intake manifolds too??? Any pics??? I wanna see how crappy it looks.

You don't. You tune the car to run most efficiently with the new intake manifold.

Re: skunk2 sohc intake manifold vs d16y8 (boostsohfast)
Edelbrocks manifold gained more power than the Skunk2 based on the TB slanted design. I believe the runers and mass air holding chamber were about equal. The design makes the air going in spin while entering the manifold creating a more efficiant air/fuel mixture while entering the combustion chamber. I believe Import Tuner or maybe its SuperStreet had an entire write-up on the manifold and they say it is the best one to buy. In my opinion i would just scrap the idea and bolt on a FI setup and call it a day.

That import tuner write up has a bunch of "therorized" information that hasn't been proven at all.

The IM is the exact same piece that comes with the turbo application.

yeah, we got it on but didn't notice much of a power gain, i was told that with a fuel pressure regulator i could gain more power, but never got one, i'd go with eddlebrock
let us know what happnes, Also like Ricey said, a ported out y8 IM would be nice as well.... keep us posted
