skunk 2 exhaust system
hi, my husband is thinking of buying a skunk 2 cat back exhaust system for his 2004 honda civic ex coupe. i want to find out for him how it sounds. does it sound deep or like a fart can? he prefers a deep sound and if the skunk 2 doesn't sound like that, does anyone know what would?

lol honda-tech ******** lol... a fat can sound would be more of a raspy sounding exhuast. I my self am not to sure how the skunk 2 exhaust sounds but i would recommend a hks hi power or apex n1 exhaust

fart sound = those ebay 4" tip mufflers. pretty much a huge fart bomb sound. eat beans, fart loudly and times that by couple hundred.
the skunk2 exhaust on the 7thgen civics sound real nice.

i have a 2000 civic ex with the dc sports twin cannister exhaust. with dc headers and jr cat, the exhaust is fairly quiet for aftermarket since it passes thru two mufflers (not dual outlet), but upon revving the sound is rich and deep, not high and whiny at all. i dont know about skunk2 exhausts but just my $0.02

I think it is pretty loud. My neighbor across the street has one on his 97 Civic 4dr. It's loud, and he still has teh silencer on, but he also has a GS-R Swap w/ mods though. Probably makes a difference in sound with those mods and teh extra cam

I got a 95 civic Si with DC headers and a skunk2 exhaust and It is definately a quality piece...stainless steel and the sound is very CLEAN no raspyness. It also has good ground clearance.

I think you guys have the wrong idea of a "fart can." A "fart can" sound is usually from a cheap *** universal muffler that is just made to be loud to attract attention and also because there is nothing else good about the exhaust.
Anything that's loud is not a "fart can." I used to have a Tanabe Super Racing Medallion, and now I have a JIC Bullet. Both of these exhausts are extremely loud (especially with a header and no catalytic converter), but they sound awesome. If I use the silencer with my JIC Bullet, the sound level becomes tolerable but it still sounds mean as hell
!

I had the old school APEX'i N1 exhaust that would hit every speedbump and that thing was louder than my skunk2 i think. And had a decent sound...I like the ground clearance of my Skunk2 though.

Exactly. Plus the muffler looks awesome. IMO better looking than the apexi n1 I have.

i have 5 zigen exhaust too... gotta roll up the windows when hitting vtec. but for a low deep sound go for magnaflow http://www.magnaflow.com look around there and listen to some of their exhausts on their webpage

this is why i bought the magnaflow race exhaust.. 2.25 inlet, 2.5" inner diameter, and 4" outlet tip.. deep and with no fart at high rpm

I don't remember where I got it from (a while ago) but just do a search on froogle.google.com, theres a bunch of them there for different prices. I paid like $450/shipped before, but it seems that was a steal. Ground clearance is great too since its sort of tucked up inside, in that subtle sort of way.
