i am actually going through this with a friends coilover. we have tried everything, cluding a torch and we can't get it off in one piece. the aluminum collar is seized onto the shock. next step is to cut it off and repolace it. you may have to do the same thing. good luck.

if you can turn them together, you will be able to break them apart. in my instance, one is totally seized to the body.

do u have the slits in the collars? if so try this:
stick a flathead in one slit of one collar and spin the collars till the flathead is pinned against your wheelwell, stopping you from turning the collars.
Then take another flathead to the collar with no flathaed in it and use a hammer to tap the but of the flathead in the direction that the other flathead is holding the collars pinned.
With a few taps the bottom collar should spin away freeing it from the top (bing held by flathead)
Just what i did when i had a 2collar stup , now i got gc with one callr so whenever they seize a flathead and hammer always get them free...
