Side Skirts
Looking for a way to paint my side skirts by myself on my 97 Honda Civic HX. That dull flat black has gotta go. I want to paint them black like my car but not flat black. any ideas?

Re: Side Skirts (Ponch)
I just painted mine about a month ago, there are 4 pop screws on the underneth and two regular screws at each ends. I had the advantage of having a aircompressor and paint gun in my garage. So it was easy!! I painted the door handles, side moldings and skirts with one pint of paint.
1. Remove
2. Sand with 200-800 grit sand paper
3. Use Iso Alcohol to wipe dust and contaminates that can make the paint get fish eyes.
4. You are ready to paint. Just make sure that your clear coat and hardener are proportioned properly..
this should be moved to appearance and cosmetics

I also added a flex additive to my paint when I did it...make sure you add it to any plastic parts that can bend a little or the paint will crack!

since your car is already black, have you considered just wet sanding them and maybe adding a coat of clearcoat? don't know how well it would stick, but just throwing ideas out there.

this sounds good. i wanted to do the same with my car but not actually paint them. what grit should i use? since it's plastic. is there anything special to avoid cracking?

Dude, quick question. I was thinking of painting my side skirts too but i heard that you can do it with a can or two of krylon spray paint. Can this be done and yet look good. my budget is lower than most.

If i'm gonna just add a clear coat using VHT/Krylon/House of Colors in a spray paint can, is there anything to do to avoid the cracking mentioned before?

Re: Side Skirts (Diamante)
I hear you can do it but i haven't seen any pics to know how good it really looks. I imagine, using spray paint, it'll look cheap. I wanted to do the same but i'm trying to find pics of someone who's done it. Anybody out there got pics of their side skirts painted with regular krylon spary can paint?????
