Default Si or type R comptech ICe box and a swap?

well I have a 97 CX with a B16A2 (type R intake manifold) and I was wondering if the civic Si ice box went through the hole in front of the fender well or does it go around and under like the type R? (pics would be good) and since I dont have the hole I would like to see what people did to get around the problem
Thanks

THe ice box section of the intake goes behind the fender, near the lower tow hook.
