Si help!
I have a 2000 civic SI. The car is running great at idle but when its under a load runs like crap. I have a CEL i checked it and it says its running to rich. Now ive talked to a honda tech and he says it sounds like my timing belt jumped a tooth. Its getting really bad to the point that if i go up a hill its fighting to get up it. I have no idea what it could be. And dont wanna spend 500 bucks on getting timing belt done when it could just be my fuel pump or something kinda simple. Any ideas?

Re: Si help! (spyder_Si)
how many miles are on the car?
was your cel a p0172 (fuel system too rich bank one)? if so possible causes are a primary oxygen sensor, or a map sensor. if it's running that rich it will cause the car to feel like it's bogging down, if it is bogging down that much you should have a misfire code as well. but still check your timing just to be sure, 1 tooth off will cause your car to run like you described, 2 teeth off will most likely cause your car to not run at all.

Re: (numberone)
when you past 5K, is it feels like want to cut off/no power? or sounds like a engine sucking air only?
if yes, your distributor coil is going bad. Change it before your car dead on highway ( likes me... )
BTW, check timing first! i do a same mistake b4!

Stop driving your car, and get it looked at. You will end up stuck on the side of the road wishing you took my advice.
If a Honda technician told you that your timing is off, I bet your timing is off.
