Should I pick up this engine ?? is it a good deal ?
it's 500$ canadian. this would be for my first engine swap, so I don't really know what I'm doing.
This is for a D16Z6
" Head been port and polish, 3 angle valve job, new everything.
Bottom needs to be built, and it does need some work.
Clutch is a centerforce dual friction, about 10k on it.
Tranny, second gear pops out sometimes. But everything else is good.
I paid $500 for this last year, never used it. I'm open to offers. And you pick up in Orleans. "
any input would be good.thanks
oh and you mods can chang this in the all-motor section if you wish

It may be worth it to wait if the bottom end needs a rebuild. Plus, if he bought it w/ the head already done, and he hasn't driven it, I would wonder if a.) the work was done at all b.) if it was done right......and do you have to drive to Louisiana to pick it up? If so, hell no.

I wouldn't touch it personally. How much is $500 canadian in US$?
What does he mean by the bottom end needs to be built?
Rebuilt?
Or that to suite the head properly it needs high C/R etc?
Additionally, he's selling it as-is based on the PREVIOUS owners claims.
How do you know the head is fully rebuilt? Can he prove it?

Thats a little better, but it still seems kinda sketchy to me.

Re: (Daniel_san)
this is what he replyed:
"I had it in the car for about 1 month, it pulled really hard, but was really way too rich, burn a bit of oil also.
Regarding the head work, I took the guy word for it, he's a good guy, and the word did not just come from him, but from the shop that had done the work to his car. He spend close to $2000 on the head work alone, so I think that's enought to get the job done properly.
I was gonna build the bottom end, but since you know i'm selling the car. That's why i'm selling it.

Re: (Daniel_san)
I'm thinking of doing a mini-me swap, since his bottom burns oil. and the head is fully built
would that be better ?
