Should I go for this car or keep looking?
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/1379785091.html
I found the VIN and it turns out this is a Civic DX which is strange since it has A/C, pwr windows and locks so now all I've got to find out is if it's got Cruise Control and if the vehicle history looks alright.
But when I checked out the KBB, I noticed that despite having similar features, this car should be worth less than an LX and I'm wondering why that would be the case. Is there any particular reason to not want a DX over an LX besides missing the usual features? I found it odd that when I asked the guy if any work has been done on the car, he denied it yet this car has some attributes from an EX despite it being a DX. How difficult is it to install cruise control on a car that didn't come with it? What would be more difficult, installing a M/T into an automatic or getting a DX car to be exactly the way I want it? Cause I've been finding it difficult to get a car in really nice condition that is a M/T and I'm starting to consider putting an M/T in an automatic to fulfill my needs but I'm a newbie and I'm not sure I quite want to take that on yet. (Though I do want to do an engine swap)

i dunno why you would be so worried about power doors and windows. Im putting them in my hatch. Maybe someone put them in before he bought it or maybe the person that orginally bought it had the option.

If you want specific things, wait until you find a car that has it. Ex. you want 5sp, power window/lock, get a car that has that. Theres plenty out there. Also dont buy something that seems weird like a car thats been swapped from different trim levels you dont know how good the work is. I dont mind paying a little more to know Im getting something legitimate.

I thought DX's could come equipped with a/c at initial purchase new. For my 1991 Civic LX, a/c was an option (that is, up to the first buyer).
How difficult is it to install cruise control on a car that didn't come with it?

Well part of the problem is, I really don't have a lot of money and I'm thinking that unless I can negotiate the price down, I'm not really sure if I should just go up and pick out another car like the LX I really want but with the issue of the guy listing it at $3500 which is a bit ridiculous.

Re: Should I go for this car or keep looking?
Just found out that the car has had 6 owners and while autocheck says "everything is fine" in terms of mileage, when I asked the guy how many miles it had, he said 145K miles yet the autocheck says back in Jan of this year the DMV read the odometer as 148K miles! So if there wasn't mileage fraud before, there sure is now!

Well DXs don't come with them from the factory and in order to get that, they have to have those features added on later on. I don't know if any dealerships did that but when you look at the door, it looks like half a DX/LX (by the handles) and half an EX with the mirrors and door guards. You can always add the power windows and locks to your car but having them already on the car would most definitely be preferable.
