Should I buy a Civic?
Okay, I know that asking if I should buy a Civic in a Honda Civic forum is a bit idiotic, but it really is a question I would like answered.
You see, I am very interested in import cars and tuning in general and I wanted a good place to start. Somewhere where I can get a car and parts that are common and will be reasonable in price.
I also want a car that I can control when driving it. I do not want a car that when I start tuning will have such a large jump in power that I will not be able to control it.
So, what do you think? Honda Civic 5th generation a good place to start?

If you don't want lots of power from a car, a Civic is perfect for you.
I would recommend a fully loaded 6th gen model, or better yet, a 7th gen EX. Then you'll definitely be able to control it.

Re: Should I buy a Civic? (NOFX)
I do not have a lot of money to start off with, which is why I was looking at some older models. I have a perfectly fine Toyota Avalon to drive around if I need to, so I am wanting something older to play with. Something that will not cost me more than 2k starting off.
