Shifter movement

Shifter movement
Hi All,
I have a 97 civic ex with 141,000 miles. When I accelerate I can see the shifter move and when I go over large bumps (considering I live in PA this occurs frequently) the shifter has a lot of movement. Also I can feel engine vibration when holding the shifter. I was wondering what the cause of this problem would be. My guess is the front engine mount.. But I was also wondering if it could be the bushings for the shifter. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Shifter movement
I also forgot to mention that when I accelerate (in any gear) the shifter movement is always backward toward the e-brake and never forward movement.. i don't know if this changes your diagnosis or not but I thought every bit of info would be helpful... What is the best way to check the mounts to determine whether they need replacement.. Thanks for the help
