Default Shift Linkage + Sway Bar = Bad Times

Hey guys. I'm hoping someone here has run into this problem and knows exactly how to fix it. I've searched through a few forums on here and the only ones that mention it die off before an answer/solution is found.. so here it is...

I just put an Integra LS sway bar on to my 98 DX hatch, swapped out the control arms, grabbed the Integra mounts and used new poly bushings all the way around. Now although everything went on smoothly, my linkage now hits the sway bar going into first and second gear making it slightly difficult to actually get it in gear. Its annoying as all hell and I'm curious if anyone knows if this can be fixed? Do I need an 99/00 Si sway bar instead of Integra? Does the Integra bar somehow need to be slid over towards the passenger side? Anyone plz help! This is my daily and I'm going crazy...

Integra sway bars DO NOT fit correctly on 96-00 civics. So there's your issue.

Yes, you can use 99-00 SI sway bar, but you will also need the 99-00 SI front LCA and shock fork.

First off, thank you!

That's what I was afraid of.. I'd never actually read anywhere that Teg sway bars didn't fit correctly 😑

If I went Si would that guarantee my linkage wouldn't touch the bar?

What about these aftermarket bars (Eibach or ST) that go under the exhaust rather than up and over it? Those should work right?

I know this is the kit for cars without end link holes but the bar itself should still work fine am I wrong? Ground clearance is not an issue, as I said this is my daily.. and the thought of dumping a couple hundred more on Si stuff after everything I already did just depresses me 😅

thats an old st kit, that one will rattle against the cat, they make on that fits like the factory bar and goes over the top

personally I would go with si or possibly ex bar from 96-00

nothing fits better than oem

I agree 100% with the OEM stuff. I think I'll hit the local pull a part tomorrow and grab an EX bar for now. Thanks so much you guys!

Go OEM, or the Eibach bar.

96-00 EX/LX will be WAY easier to find then a SI setup, and a lot cheaper

I went a got the 96-00 EX front bar. Not as happy with it as the Integra bar so I'll be upgrading to Si or Type R in the future.

As for the rear I'm just running an Integra bar with Si endlinks and I bought the 1320 Performance 2 piece aluminum bushings to make the endlinks fit. They work amazingly but just like the fronts I'll be upgrading to Type R eventually. The stiffness and handling improvement is night and day.
