IMO! gas is gas period! the only difference I can see is how fresh that gas is, buying gas from x out on the countryside where there are 100 cars there and the station is 50 years old where its tank is all rusty,hasnt been served and not air tight shouldnt even compare to gas in the city where its very often refreshed as its used more, where that station has been built very recently(is new) and the tank they have is clean and air tight and inspected very often! gas has alcohol and alcohol acts like the acid in your coke, if the station is bad and leaks air that gas is garbage! even if it is air tight if its old its still garbage IMO! also remember that aditives in every station are different and those aditives clean deposites, soo dont keep on using the same gas, by doing so in example just using shell, you will only clense your engine from the deposites that the shell detergents can clean, but if you keep switching, like lets say every 3k youll keep your engine clean from various deposites by using various detergents various gas stations serve, I would only be aware that I go with a busy station that carries a reputation like a shell,esso,sunuco,chevron and keep switching through them thats all , oh and obviously use no less than the octane recommended

no chevron in my area, and no BP within about 20 miles. I tend to use Phillip's 66, or whoever has the cheapest 93 around... which seems to be phillips. Never had a problem. Just no Citgo... they all closed once the rednecks found out they bought oil from Venezuela.
Gotta admit though, sometimes I get the swill from MotoMart. Car seems to only get about 24mpg on it, as opposed to about 27-28 from a decent brand.

i used shell in my civic all the time..wouldnt fill up with anything else. I tryed putting shell in my truck and it just eats it up. So i use exxon now and i have found my truck runs alot better and i got somthing like 72 miles more to the tank.

this thread is funny. there are 2 main suppliers of gasoline for ALL of north america and after that its all about the additives that the company uses. I use shell gas but thats just because i haven't had any problems with it before and there is always one close by.

All gas stations add ethanol to their gas, its just some stations 'water down' their gas with more ethanol, especially in the winter since it acts as a water remover.

all I can say is I went on an 600km trip from toronto to montreal with out any traffic at all at 80mph on average with sunuco 94 used on the way up and shell 87 on the way back with the exact same weight,speed,traffic(none really),wheather and the shell gave me an extra 50 km to the tank! I didnt notice any gains whatsoever using 94 either,no difference in power,nothing, but I should also add that this was on a non-vtec b20z with simple bolt-ons(capable of running on 87)!

Lol yeah. I took my CRV to from St. Louis to Chicago and back once. Got 28mpg on the way there and 14mpg on the way back... but I was carrying an engine and transmission in the back.

and can say that 99% of the drive was flat and even, barely even a hill I went up on, but yes obviously this would make a difference, but I would have put this into the equation if that was the case. I can almost everything was equal in the two cases, even temp and wind, this was what kind of made me and my friend think twice because we were hoping to see the opposite results leading higher octane to get better mpg, but unfortunatly that wasnt the case in the drive nor was it ever the case after that in the city either, that sure why

I like BP the most... I just think BP gas stations are a lot cleaner than most others and are more pleasant to go to.
My dad borrowed my car and I told him to only get BP when he put gas in it, and of course he didn't listen and got Chevron... made my engine have mad spark knock. Took nearly until the end of the 2nd tank of BP gas after that for it to go away.

Shell, if I have to put something other than this in, I only put a gallon or two to get to a Shell station. In my LS motor it is noticeably smoother idling. If I do a full tank of cheap **** (Super America), it usually takes a 1/3 of a take before it makes it nice again.
