it way 11lbs, now its a little sluggish from 1500 to3000 is that normal.

Did you shave it or did you have a shop do it? I hope that whoever did it balanced it when they were done. If you didn't balance it, you'll probably want to go buy some new crank bearings now.

Yeah it'll rev quicker but you'll lose some torque. Maybe that's it.

well old street guys have the theory that if it revs faster it loses torque....and since 4 cyl rev fast they must not have any torque...and since there big v8s reved slow ...there like DAMN i got mad torque yo....i dont know what im talking about

What I was told is that a lighter flywheel has less centrifugal(?) force.

Re: shaved 5lbs of my flywheel d16z6 (hybridreams)
no it would have to exert less centrifigual force
theres no way that less rotating mass can cause a loss of torque , a larger flywheel is supposed to deliver smoother torque and keep RPM's up longer
good for an old pushrod p.o.s. , not a high-strung 4cyl

couldn't have said it better. i have always felt that lightened stock flywheels are kinda shady. as far as cheap hp, I/H/E is always good. better ignition is great, and turbo is even better

I understand that ignition upgrades on Mad Modded Honda's can take advantage of the upgrades already there, but the ignition upgrade BY ITSELF has yet to be proven to be a great upgrade.
If you have evidence to the contrary (not BS, but dyno plots or tests or such) I'd love to see them. I've been wanting an MSD SCI, but CANNOT justify it to myself for $250 without hard evidence of the upgrades worthiness.

Can you demonstrate on any Honda where an aftermarket ignition has significant HP gains?

Solbros Owns Me
Re: shaved 5lbs of my flywheel d16z6 (beatdown88hf)
You want more from your D16Z6???? well, my bro works at an engine shop, and hooked me up big time!! with no funds, free of charge, the shop gasket matched port/polish, milled .020, copper compressed head gasket, new valve guides, 3 angle valve job, and smoothed ut combustion chambers...Without the hookup, should only cost about 300 bucks, and my response is WAY better...don't know about times yet, but it flows super good, and then with a few bolt ons, and maybe some ZC pistons and rods, bump that compression up even higher, and you'll have a pretty reliable street machine!! Just my experience so far though

Re: shaved 5lbs of my flywheel d16z6 (wrine420)
prolly got ahead of myself. the ignition is for N2O. i know everyone hates on Nawwwwwz but if done right it can be a great way to make hp with little money. but this is if, and only if its done right.
But, I'm trying to talk myself into an MSD (the multi-spark capacitive spark concept is technologically sexy), so if you know something I don't, fire away.
