Hi,

I am trying to remove the bolts that keep the brake rotors on the knuckle. However, they are beyond rusted and have tried heating up and hitting with the hammer.

No luck, now it seems I may have stripped the screw heads.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

you are going to need some type of easy out or stripped screw remover to get them out.

the tool that you are going to need from here on out after learning your lesson with those specific screws is an impact screwdriver!! 10-20$ at autozone.

yeah after you strip those screws there is not much more you can do.

Drill them out. They're only on to hold the rotors on during assembly and some new rotors aren't even drilled and countersunk to accept the screws.

that is true as well the lug nuts will hold the rotor in place once the wheel is on.

do you need to keep the rotors, or are you replacing them?

I've run into this problem 30283475628 times now and broken 202847462 impact screwdriver bits, and I've gotten to where I just zip them off with an angle grinder if I can't remove them in 5 minutes using normal methods. Using the electric angle grinder, I can pull the rotors in 10 minutes each. It almost always kills the rotor because it grinds the crap out of it, but it gets them off quick.

Definitely one tool I never thought I'd need that's become worth it's weight in myrrh. I've also used it as a universal exhaust removal tool, and generally use it instead of sockets when working on my Jeep lol.

I went through this yesterday because I broke the impact driver bit. Was going to cut them out but then remembered I let my buddy borrow my dye grinder, then went to drill them and all my bits suck ***. Finally used a pneumatic 4" disc grinder and sat there for 20 minutes grinding away until i was about to the bottom of the screw head and popped it off with a hammer. I had an a full front suspension for a DA behind my garage and stole a screw from that.
