running like crap
when i arrived at my gfs the other day my car started running like *** as soon as i got off the highway, and it started to backfired now and then, even when i was on ethe way back on the highway in 5th it would backfire, it seemed to be idling rough and it actually died a couple times when my foot wasn't on the gas (i.e-in a turn or at a light) the only cel i'm throwing is an oxygen sensor, but i didn't think and o2 sensor could cause all this mayhem on my civic. btw its a 92 civic cx

Re: running like crap (VvPeachyvV)
check to see if one of your spark plug wires "popped" out, happened to me in my civic.....if not check the actual spark plugs....dizzy....
wen one cylinder is not firing car will run like ****...
remember it takes spark, oxygen and gasoline to start and run the car....check those...o2 sensor and fuel filter could make it run shitty too, give us more details and wel give you more

Yeah you need everything that jay mentions to make your car run effectively, check all that good stuff first.

You should stop giving out stupid information. Messing with his idle screw will just cover up an already existing problem. Sure it would work. But its just an easy fix.
As to the original poster, Check your plugs and wires. How long has it been since they've been replaced? Check your rotor also and make sure your tb is all nice and clean. Not gunked up.

I think you mean fuel, spark, timing, and compression.
I bet your o2 is the problem. From my experience with my car, i bet the car is sputtering and dying at idle because you are running too rich. take the o2 out and spray it with some carb cleaner, that'll buy you some time until you can get a new one.
