Rubbing sound from behind the timing belt cover
Hello.I just recently bought 00 ex for a second car for daily.
There's a rubbing sound coming fromt tbelt side..I'm thinking water pump
Going bad....but I intended to do it anayway.
Well,a long time ago,I bought a 96 civic ex as a project with broke timing belt.
I purchased the tming belt, mounted it,maybe turned manualy maybe 10 times?
But ended up having to scrap the block.block itself was no good.
Anyway..this new(opened) timing belt has been sitting in my tool box at my parents house.
What maybe 8 years?
Should I go ahead and use it?or just buy a new one?
What's your opinion?
Thanks

It could be something as simple as the timing belt not being centered properly on the pulleys. You could always remove the top cover and have a look.

Probbly take a look tomorrow or thurs.
Lol I already bought the belt, water pump,vc gasket, and crank seal(might as well replace since in there).probably go ahead and get cam oil seal and thermostat tmorrow.
But I think it is the pump..Its cming from were the water pump is and it does get kinda hot when in park and idleing.litlle over half way...but as soon as you drive it'll cool down and stay normal temp.
Pretty sure it hasn't been changed.
