RS*R exhaust question
I have a 1998 DX hatchbak with the older RS*R exmag exhaust on it.
My question only really pertains to those who have the same set up.
Are there any B-series headers that will directly bolt up to the exhaust without modification?

Re: RS*R exhaust question (2wheelhunter)
on a side note:
I am putting a b20 into my car and I know I am supposed to put on a LS intake manifold for clearance issues, but i saw a guy cut his hood's webbing and it cleared, but that was in a DA... could i just cut mine and make it work?
here is the guy's(gLok) bay

Re: RS*R exhaust question (DerekPTE)
ls intake is much more convenient just more work... i say throw a b16 or gsr head on it.. to answer your question, most headers will fit right up to your exhaust setup

Yea that is true but I have searched a lot and everyone instantly says put LS intake manifold on... one time i saw someone say to cut the innards but no one backed it up

Re: RS*R exhaust question (DerekPTE)
well i've never delt with cutting the frame of my hood i suppose most people dont want to deal with the metal exposure. where i live it wouldnt take long to rust i would suggest if you do cut your hood, to spray it so that it is semi-sealed..
what did they say about wiring? i'm not too sure but i beleive ls intakes would be more convenient for wireing also

it depends on the year b20.

Re: RS*R exhaust question (DerekPTE)
When you get a B-series in there, you won't need that J shaped piece. The B series header is long and takes up that whole space. I chopped 17" off of my pipe and welded a flange on. I then put a new cat in that 17" space. I have the GTII model and I believe it's similar to yours.

Re: RS*R exhaust question (Excel motor werks)
I was looking to see if a header would directly replace that pictured piece completely so i can drive to muffler shop and have them weld in a CAT

That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.
First off, the exhaust lengths are different for different vehicles. Hatches with Y7's have one length, Coupes + Sedans with Y7's have another, and Coupes/Sedans with Y8's (also B16A2's) have yet another length. These differences in lengths between similar body style vehicles with different motors is due to the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter placement. On Y7's, the catalytic conver is in the exhaust manifold, and then attached to a J-pipe. This makes for a longer manifold, but due to the lack of a separate catalytic conver, a long exhaust piping. The Y8's have a design similar to that of a 99-00 Si (B16A2) in that they have a full exhaust manifold and then a separate catalytic converter. This makes for a shorter manifold, but add in the length of the catalytic convert, and you have a shorter exhaust pipe.
Secondly, a manifold from a B series motor will not fit a D series motor. The heads have different exhaust ports, and the manifolds and headers are not interchangeable.
You're just a pile of stupid.

I was under the impression he had a b series swap and he wanted to maintain his rsr exhaust, so he wanted to know which manifold would fit. Because I assumed he knew a b series manifold will not fit a d series.

you are right, I know a b series exhaust manifold wont fit on a d series..
I am putting in a b20 and was wondering which exhaust manifold would directly bolt to where the j pipe ENDS...
the rsr jpipe doesnt line up the same way the stock ones does.. so i was thinking it may bolt directly to a bseries header, but which
