RPM gauge has gone crazy wth
Greets guys,
I recently noticed this about the same time I had just developed drivability issues after overcharging my a/c (since remedied....thanks ron!)note....car is driving fine now with a/c on or off. but here's the symptoms:
I always turn key to ready to crank position at start and wait to hear fuel pump prime and watch cel goes out. with engine still not running gauge reads 1000 rpm 3 out of four times and seems to be running 1000 rpm high when running in all gears. some times gauge only is 500 rpm high when I turn on the power and sometimes it seems ok no change.
now it seems as if always reading 1000 high but when I drive engine speed shift points seat of pants seems completely normal. car is running fine and throwing no CEL light. today driving in second at STEADY speed I watched the RPM gauge bouncing all over hell from 2k to 5 k with no drivability problem! car is a cx and I swapped the cluster in 6 months ago and its been great no problems until this began. I have another cluster I picked up for cheap a few days ago and think I should perhaps swap out and see how it runs.
what would cause this? bad tps? map? side note I dropped in a synchrotech SI transmission eg d series in nov and engine is b8 8 valve and tranny manual. I have never revved it over 3k as redline on b8 is 5500 but very happy with this setup and short gears get me out in merge conditions much safer. I just want you to know the setup im running in case it has a factor I am unaware of. any input thankful for.
seems like a bad connection? I cant figure it out and everything I found in my searches the guys are having drivability issues. my car is driving fine, but I want this remedied thanks in advance fella's and hope my post makes sense.
