Default rough/pulsing idle

i have a few problems with my car but i think they are all related. I have a d15b7 engine w/ i/h/e. Lately my engine has been pulsing and shaking while idling. I can sometimes watch my shifter move back and fourth about 1/2inch to 1 inch. When it shakes like this, if i let off of the brakes it gets smoother but still rough. When driving i feel a lot of vibration in the shifter but don't noticeably see it move. Sometimes while the brakes are pressed i also hear a whistle that goes away once i let off the brakes. Lately the car also feels like it has no power until almost 3k rpm. Like its being bogged down really badly. I think this might be something to do with a vacuum leak somewhere, but can someone please verify this before i start spending money and replacing parts. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE

from further investigation and talking to people i think my car is running a little rich. My spark plugs are slightly fouled (dry sooty black stuff on them). There isn't any smoke that comes out of my exhaust that i know of but i do hear popping on occasion. Also i can sometimes smell gas from my exhaust after i turn off my car. From searching and reading i've concluded that it can be caused by, MAP sensor, iacv, bad thermoswitch/thermostate, leaky injectors, vacuum leak, weak ignition system, or dirty intake manifold. I don't think i have a vacuum leak, my manifold is clean as far as i can tell. The spark plugs are about 2 years old but i don't want to replace them until i find out what is really wrong. Can someone shed some light to help narrow some of this stuff down?

I have the same problem. I also think it could be a vacuum leak problem. Have you checked all your hoses ?

sorry for the long break but i wasn't able to get to my car for a while. I did check all my hoses and i couldn't find anything noticeably wrong with them. What exactly am i looking for? One thing i did do while the car was running was disconnected the hose from the pcv valve on my engine. It started to shake a lot more for a few seconds and then the idle raised a little bit and it smoothed out. I drove it around for about 45 minutes and it was idling a lot better than it had been. I can still feel a lot of vibration in my shifter but i couldn't see the shifter actually move like i had been. My idle was around 800 the whole night. Is this a bad PCV valve? and why would that cause a rough idle?

i adjusted my valves this morning and it seems to be idling smoother. A lot smoother than before, but still not where i remember it. When i took my plugs out they looked like a mix between an overheated plug and normal. I ordered a new thermoswitch and thermostate to put in my car tomorrow to see if there is any effect. Anyone else have any ideas?
