Default REV?

Hey guys i was just wondering what would it be...if anything... if when you rev your motor and it takes a little longer than normal for the rpms to drop?? a few days ago i was driving and it was dong that at a stop light... i just revd up to like 3000 a few times and it seemed like it was lagging a little but then i drove and at the next light it didnt really do it. It was a little warm out as well. Now its not doing it at all so im just curious what it was..maybe the oil needs to be changed or something..just wanna be on top of it before something serious begins..

I honestly don't think it's a particular problem, someone else may come along and prove me wrong, but I've noticed that in my car all the time. Personally I like it because it allows you to shift to another gear before the RPM's drop and give you that "jumping" feeling as if you were a newbie to driving a stick all over again. And yes mine tends to change as well but it seems to be more dependant on how high/low the RPM's are. If I'm in neutral and rev to say 2K or 2.5K they seem to drop down. If (also in neutral) I would rev to say 3-5K they hold there for a little longer than the previous stated. As well as if I would take it to 6 or 6.5, they will drop quicker again. I personally think it just has something to do with the mid range being the optimal operating RPM's for the car, it will stay there because there's no problem. The lower RPM's drop quickly because there's no need to stay at that low of RPM..especially not in gear...and the high ones are getting to the point where it's close to redline which would could be dangerous to the motor. Like I said I could be wrong but that's my thesis on the situation.
