Resonator recommendations
Gonna go for a ES Oval for my gf's 98 Ex and wanted recommendations for a resonator that would make the exhaust a nice deep tone. This is for a stock Y8 with just a short ram intake and Random Tech bolt-on free flow cat. I did a search but most exhaust questions for EK's dealt with FI'd ex's or swapped motors. I'm gonna go with 2.25 piping. TIA.

Re: Resonator recommendations (Knightmare69)
On the subject of exhaust, I know ebay headers are crap but I was looking at them and I think that anything is better than the stock header that have 2-1 collector. What are your opinions cuz I'm on a really tight budget so this is better than nothing.

sounds like you got that performance bug! honestly, i would save up more and buy a quality header. why buy a 'crap' unit? if it is all for looks, then get the 'ebay' version. for performance, go with a reputable brand.

Re: Resonator recommendations (SawBoss)
Yeah, I know I should but I just figured that while gettin the custom exhaust done I could do the header also. I just feel that comparing the 2, even the ebay header would flow better than the stock design. Thanks for the input.

for a resonator,go to Advance and get a Dynomax/Thrush perforated core resonator.comes in different lengths for around $20.
i've had one of these on my hatch for a long time, and it works well.also used them on other cars-works just as well as higher dollar resonators.

Re: Resonator recommendations (TeamNextGenChris)
actually for the best resonator you should go to Parks and get a bullet hi flow with no external tubes(you slide it over the tubing and weld it in place)
14 dollars later you have one of the quietist and best performing resonators on the market

Believe it or not, the stock OEM D16Y8 header flows pretty well. I'm thinking about replacing my D16Z6 header with the Y8's. If I were you I'd keep it, especially since you're on a tight budget. Stay away from the ebay headers. You'd be wasting money then.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I think that we're gonna do this is sections so the first will be to get the ES Oval and have it mated to 2.25 piping with the factory midpipe and resonator. Then we'll see how it goes. Does anyone know what the stock piping size on our cars? I was having a thought about what the outcome would be if I were to go from big pipe to small pipe and vice versa. What kind of effects would this have? Like, the ES Oval is essentially a straight through, not a chambered like the WS which is what I wanted to get her. I prefer more torque right now than HP. But if I were to use smaller piping or the stock of the midpipe and then open the piping up on the axle back, would this create any kind of flow disturbance good or bad? Thanks again for any info and any more to come.
