That's what I used to think too. Some aftermarket dizzy's apparently can be installed 180-degrees out of phase. Some people also claim to have been able to force on an OEM dizzy out of phase.

OP: Any CEL codes? Have you checked whether there's no spark at the plugs?

To the both of you: Forcing it isnt the correct way lol. Theyre all aluminum and youll just muff the whole thing up.

Chances are with aftermarket dizzys the dizzy gear gets installed backwards. When its supposed to fire cylider #1. It fires number 4. Therefore the gear needs to be swapped around. Common mistake on aftermarket dizzys.

I agree. But it's possible to do and, unfortunately, people do it.

no its defienently in correctly.... it threw a ignition output signal code before i took the dizzy out thinking that it had gone bad.... i popped a used one in and it wouldnt turn on just turned over... then i bought a brand new one and it did the same thing

havent checked for spark because it fired right up even with the old busted dizzy before and cant understand what it possibly be

Get back to basics. Making any assumptions will just slow down finding the fix. Check for spark and priming of the fuel pump. Click the Check Spark link in my signature. Any CEL codes?

yes it is getting spark

it started up then died again after about 10 mins ... back to where we started

no CEL at the moment but beforehand it threw a ignition output signal code.. thats why i changed the dizzy

not sure about fuel pump priming... i heard something click when i turned it to the on position figured it was the main relay

When the engine won't start:

Is there bright white spark at the plugs?

When you turn the key to ON(II), you do you hear the low humming/buzzing noise of the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds in the gas tank.

spark was kinda orangy and white... tried 3 different dizzy all the same result

cant be sure about the hum though... i didnt hear anything other than the click of the relay and then the power locks click over...

Remove the gas cap, press your ear against the fuel fill hole, and then have a buddy turn the key to ON(II). Do you hear the humming/buzzing of the fuel pump for 2 seconds.

its hard to look at a spark plug wire and tell if they r good or not.. check the amount of resistance in the wire.. or take a wire off one at a time while the engine is running
