repetetive post...
again, i can't find the thread like this one....but I'm still in high school and I just got myself a 95 honda del sol si as my daily driver. the problem is...it only has a d16z6. I would like to know whether i should get a b16, b18, or an h22 and still be cheap enough for a high schooler. i'm getting about 35 mpg on the d16. how's the mpg on the other ones? thanks

Well, if you bother to even read the first thread on the top of this forum -- you'd see "What swaps are available for ...?":

here it says every difference between any honda motorswap. installing a B-series is pretty much the same for each swap so all you need to do is figure out money and whats worth it to you.

well with any one of those motors that you named you're looking at atleast $2500-$3000 just for the complete motor swap. so that being said, how much money do you have to spend being that you're already looking for something that will be "cheap enough" for a high-school student. mpg varies a little bit from motor to motor but it really depends on how you drive. if you have a heavy foot and want to rev loud at other people you'll be spending more money on fuel than car parts. and don't say "it only has a d16z6"..for the amount of money you'd spend on a swap you can have that motor fully built and boosted and be ALOT faster than any stock B series...which is cooler in my opinion.

only a d16? well at least u dont have a d15 like i do. No vtec -.- . go to hmotorsonline.com and look at the price range between the motors. b18c1 tends to be 1k more then the b16a2.

I'm a fan of my GS-R, so that's my vote.
The B16 is torqueless IMO, and while the H22 is more powerful than the GS-R, you'll notice a drop in your MPG. I know that I average between 30-32 MPG in my GS-R swapped Civic, with mixed city/highway driving...and also depending on how I'm driving.

maybe you should just drive your stock d16 - read up on everything that you want to do to your car in the future, save up and then mod your car. if you are asking how a d series can be faster than a b series then you really need to research and learn alot more about this industry.
turbocharging a d series motor will make it faster than a b series

No, learn more about Honda motors before you consider doing other things.
A D can be faster than tons of things, Corvettes, Vipers, and even a H series! Only K if you're lucky

D16 on boost is just cheap and easy. It's a really small motor and people are always wanting to basically throw away their SOHC's so getting blocks/parts is pretty cheap. However you have to build it right and tune it right if you want to be pretty fast, but a stock D16 on about 10psi quite fast. I don't really know a lot about boost, but I do know D16 on boost is a great way to go.
However, H series and B series is more money, and H series isn't so much of a direct fit. And then K's are a whole other ball game. But for the most part, stick with your D until you learn more about want you really want, and until then, just search the internet for a bunch of different things, I don't remember how I picked up on everything, but I know I didn't do it on Honda-Tech, so just look for informational things that websites offer.

x2...IMO boost it. Its going to be cheaper than a swap and it will be faster than a lot of other cars, not just b series.
