are we talking Canola?

regular as opposed to synthetic? 'regular' oil has worked fine for a very long time

castor based oils break down faster and can cause wear quickly.

negatory ghost rider. u should be fine. taking into consideration if u are switching back from synthetic due to monetary reasons. if u are switching back due to synthetic causing a leak.. non synthetic oil will not fix it. just make sure to change your oil at the scheduled intervals ex 3000 miles.

No, as long as you keep it topped off and change it at regular intervals.

that is what i use as well. i have almost 200k on my 99 si with no issues. i usually run castrol or quaker state regular oil. synthetic is not needed unless you are reaching very high temps or want to wait a bazillion miles before oil changes.
