To rebuild or not to rebuild?
I've got a 2000 Civic Si with 109,000 miles on it and I'm wondering about having the engine rebuilt. Does anybody have a ballpark figure on what it would cost to have that done? I ask because I'm considering installing a turbo and I figured it would be kind of dumb to do that on an engine thats getting kind of worn out. What would the resident experts do in my position? Would you rebuild? What upgrade path would you follow as far as the turbo?

Re: To rebuild or not to rebuild? (mcastleberg)
If I was you, I'd start building up the motor internally and get new transmission components. If you are going to be boosting an ample amount, you'll want to lower your compression. Common things I see people doing when adding forced induction is getting a better Flywheel/Clutch combo setup, Ignition, Pistons(Lower compression intended), cam gear, etc. Then again, I know people that boost on stock and don't have any problems. However, your vehicle has over 100000 on it, so it would be whatever.
If I was you, I'd check in the forced induction/turbo forum. Those guys could probably help you out a little more
