REAR SPEAKERS
im trying to install after market speakers in my 98 civic ex coupe, iv had a 96 accord and a 97 civic hatch and it was very easy. But how do i go about putting the rear speakers in. I just try and felt like i was going to break something. Maybe im retarded but please walk me through the process to get to the speakers!!!

Re: REAR SPEAKERS (nick90267)
you have to take the whole rear deack off to get at the speakers the right way, then they are easy as hell to take out, but yeah, us hatch owners definatly have it alot easier, i had a coupe once too, so i know your pain

theres four screw/nuts/bolts (i cant remember what they are) that are accesible from underneath to be able to take off the grilles.
then you can unscrew the speakers from the plastic basket ring.

to take the deck off you have to take the sides off and to take the sides off you have to take the seats out. yes, it is tedious. i think i remember reading that you can finagle the screws out from the trunk that hold the speakers in, slip the stocks out through the bottom, and mount the new ones bottom up. that is an option, but kinda half assing it. not sure if you have searched, there have been lots of topics on this in the past.

Even a monkey can install speakers on a hatch.

just so you know, you do not have to take sides off, seats out, and you cannot drop the speakers out of the bottom. The top is just clipped on. You have to slip the seatbelts out of it, and pull up. It seams like it may break, but just take your time and be carefull with it. Its not really that bad, but yes, compared to a hatch it seams horrible.
