Default Rear seat conversion.

I am interested in turning my back seat into a futon. So far I have deducted that I would need to add a sliding bracket and a pull release for the bracket so the bottom of the futon would slide toward the front of the car giving the back more room to lay down. I would probably custom shape my own mattress to fit between the hatch area. And I would need to custom fab. my own backrest bars for the futon.

I was curious if anyone has ever considered or completed something like this before. It would make long trips more bearable and whatnot while only adding a little extra weight. Let me know if there are any mechanisms you recommend using or any custom sites you could give me to help me get the correct parts for the best end result. Thanks guys.

It's kind of a different Idea and I'm not 100% if I want to follow through or not yet, but I'm looking at pricing first.

Indeed, you'd be better off buying a twin/full sized 4" memory foam mattress topper with a high density and covering the back of your back seats and your hatch floor with it. Actually kind of a cool idea. And you'd retain your back seats. Your trunk would just be smaller and squishy.

I did this back in the day with a thick sleeping bag and some pillows. It was for a different reason though
