Default Rear main seal question.. Remove oil pan?

Hey, I'm in the process of swapping out motors on my civic. The new/used motor I got has a leaking rear main seal. I was just wondering if it can be changed without removing the oil pan.. I'm planning on doing it tomorrow and would like to just do it on the ground without removing the oil pan.
Thanks!

the rear main is behind your flywheel, it's like doing a clutch job....no need to remove the oil pan

haha.. Thank you. I actually do know where it is at. On a lot of vehicles it seals against the oil pan on the bottom half and the engine on the top half. I have never changed one on a Honda though so I thought I better ask.

What??? Honda 4 cylinder engines like D and B series, the tranny just comes off, you don't touch the pan. Here is a pic of my B18 sitting on an engine stand, the pan is still on and was never removed when i took off the tranny.

Okay, I just changed the seal yesterday. I did not have to remove the oil pan. It does not seal against it. Thanks guys.
