You don't technically need to swap out booster and master cylinder. However, it is recommended, because the whole reason you are swapping your brakes is to achieve more rear brake bias. You also need to look into a brake proportioning valve. Do a search, their are way too many threads on rear disc swaps. Also try the FAQ at the top of the 92-00 Civic Forum.

Good to know. I was looking at 5th gen EX for the fact of 1.6, fully loaded, and thinking it came with rear disc.

actually, the 5th gen civic ex didn't get abs, rear disc brakes until 94 & 95.

It's a good idea to change them anyway, your running more fluid, so it's better to have that brake booster and mc, and more of your braking than before is being done by the rear brakes, so you need the proportioning valve to compensate for new bias.
Some people claim that the prop valves are the same. This is correct that they look the same externally, but in a valve, it's whats inside that counts.

does it brake better or do you think you should've changed mc/bb?

can you elaborate on this more. last time i checked, most of the braking is done by the fronts.

OOOOOOKKKKKKKKAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just wanted to make sure. if i was a noob, i would have thought the opposite .
yes i agree with you, when doing this swap, the 4040 prop valve is necessary.
the only bad thing about swapping out the prop valve is that sometime the linse a rusted frozen and strip, or in my case break off.
on that note, that i know of, the 4040 prop valves can be found DA integra's and DC integra's non abs (RS & LS).
