Rear Deck Rattles
i just put a sub in my 98 civic and the rear deck rattles like crazy. i have dampened the trunk, but i dont know if i should dampen underneath the deck-salesguy told me u cant prevent plastic from rattling. Any suggestions?

get some of that stuff they put on the back of cabinets to prevent it from slaming hella hard, you can get it at home deopt, and put it on the bottom of it. Its like this tape looking stuff and its about 1/8 in thick foam pad with one sticky side.... or just take it out all together.

i have the same problem but the rattling sounds like it is coming from my 60/40 split seat. haven't had the time to sit down and try and track the sound but that might be another place to look.

when i bought the car i noticed the guy had put socks in those holes. i took them out not knowing what they were doing. but i dont understand what it does? u said it pushes the plastic cover up. what do u mean? thanks everyone.

i had the same problem, and fixed it with a t shirt i had that came vaccuum wrapped into this little ball, i just wedged it between the glass and deck lid and it completely cured the rattle
you might also be able to use a racquetball or something similar that will stay in place
