So the rear bumper on my EJ8 coupe has been sticking out either side near the wheel wells for some time now... It's right at the top edge, where I'm guessing there should be some clips holding it in place on the inside. My friends 2001 4 door has the same problem.

I've let it slide until now, but I finally feel like doing something about it.. There has been a rattling noise coming from the rear of my car, especially at high speeds on the freeway, or when going over deep potholes, and I think it might be the bumper. It definitely can be wiggled up and down by hand around that area.

Does anyone know the easiest way to access and replace those clips? I can't see them clearly from under the car..

Has anyone else had this problem? Seems fairly common if my friends car has it too...

mine has the same problem and i recently have been wanting to fix mine.itll fix the clean look .anybody know of the common fix ? interested in cleaning up the look of my rear bumper.i was googling and came across this thread ..i know its old..sorry

just drill the hole underneith and install a bolt on each side. it will close the gap up a lot better than the factory clips do too.

One of those anchor bolts work great.

Like the one you push through, and then the two clasps pop open wide.
