car is a 94 civic eg with a jdm h22a swap

alright so i had gone to the wreckers and found a speedo out of an eg 4 door but it was automatic, the reason i wanted this is because it had a factory tach... this is where it starts getting weird, i installed it and everything went smooth, started up the car and it all worked but as soon as i went to use my turn signals they didnt work. i thought it would be something small and went to turn off my car..... key out of the car and in hand yet it still stayed running, the only way to shut it off was to hit my hazard switch.... then i swapped my old one back in and the car shuts off with the key if my hazard switch is disconnected...........??? but still no signals.

sorry for the long story but i thought i would give all the info needed for your help

Thats a tough one, i know the h22 swap make it a little tight in there so maybe you've smashed some wires and shorted them, but i dont know how a cluster would affect car operation.

thats what i thought too ... I tried resetting my computer and its still happening ... I'm gonna go over the wiring, but does anybody have any suggestions on where to start ... the motor has been in the for a few years now and there's never been a problem

This is gonna be fun, turn signals won't work if the hazard switch is disconnected or not wired properly, which sounds like the issue. Did you try putting in the original cluster and seeing if it operates fine? Trace the wires from the ignition/hazard switch and check for breaks/crimps.

I did put the original cluster back in and it continued to do this .. I will trace back along those wires and go from there

Could you have possibly mixed up two plugs? I dunno eg interior wire plugs that well?

well thats what I thought at first but when I looked at it the plugs only go in one spot ... bump .. this has never happened to anybody?

dam this is a tough one... hahah only thing i ever had similar to this is.... after my crx not starting with a b series vtec swap..... let me rephrase.... having the swap for a while.... then this started to take effect.... having a hard time starting.. but after hitting the hazards a few times... i was able to start right up.... dont know never found anything out either... it drove me so crazy i sold the car and got another... ahhah im sorry but unless you're in for swapping the whole body harness.... think about selling i guess... some short some where...

also had a case where my head light switch being turned on would keep my car on the on position, kinda like over riding my ignition, turned out to be a jumper harness running too hot and fused together causing shorts.... and trust me it me a long time to find this one out...
