i was messin with my suspension on the right side (1993 honda civic)
i got these busted cv boots and all of a sudden this round thing fall out of the cv boot
its like a small metal doughnut with a pivoting piece inside
i can see it was attached onto the axle
can anyone tell me what this is and how bad my problem is?

Re: real quick question (nomoshing)
You risk your joint seizing and snapping the axel off. How much time before that will happen, will be determined by your environment such as dust, dirt, roads, etc.

If you can inspect it and know for SURE that it's not messed up or severely dirty inside, you could get away with adding more grease and a new boot/clamp. Good chance you're gonna just trap in sand/dirt in there and eventually it will still lock up. Most will just recommend that you replace the axle. You just never know.
