ok, i think its the heat sheild after reading around on the forums but i have no clue how to fix this?
DEL SOL 94 - someone please help me on how ot get rid of this rattle noise? when i accelerate?

If it's the heat shield on the cat just get a wire hanger, cut it, wrap it around the heat shield and use some plyers to "tie" the end you cut to tighten it. That'll stop it. Or you could just remove the heat shield. Just remember not to park over tall grass/leaves.

Ususally when the rattling is on accelleration, I've noticed that it's most likely the heat sheild on the manifold, and not the cat. The cat tends to rattle all the time or at idle; so you might want to check both.

can someone post a pic? of where these heat sheilds might be? i'm new to all this.. dont' know much about del sols.. or cars in general for that amtter

header heat shield is in front of the motor in your engine bay with a do not touch symbol on it. The cat heat shield is underneath the car between the front seats, you'll know it when you see it. Sorry, my heatshields have been gone for a while now, so no pics.

the sheld around the whole exhaust system, starting from the header/exhaust manifold all the way to the back!! You'll have to jack up the car, and go under.

ya i was under it today, but considering it was my first time under a car... lol i didnt konw too much . ... i'll try and search around ... in the mean time if anyone has a pic with directions please help me out.. thanks in advance

These are the components of your exhaust. 6 and 4 are the cat heat sheild, if yours is under the car.



This is the header and heat sheild. This one has the cat attached to the manifold (at the front of the engine) instead of under the car, but yours will look something like this.

mine rattled to hell before, so i removed the bottom part of the heatshield and the rattling went away
