This past Friday my '96 Civic EX was running fine. She started up perfectly that morning, allowed me to run to the bank, and when I got home, I parked her out front to simply grab something to eat and head back out. As I jumped back into the car and attempted to start her up she hesitated. I attempted to put it in 1st and let the clutch off a little while giving it a bit of gas to no avail. The car would simply chirp over and over without any sign of starting back up. Eventually I gave up.

Later that day I went back out to try the car again and at that point she didn't even chirp! I pressed in the clutch and turned the key and NOTHING! What could have possibly gone wrong that the car just didn't want to start back up? And then later cause the battery to die completely? I had a full tank of gas and the oil level was just fine.

If it makes any difference, I've never parked the car out front before. the side of the street that I parked on is on a bit of a slant, so the right side of the car slants down..not sure if this has anything to do with fuel delivery?

What does chirp over mean?

If the battery is dead, replace or charge.

The sound the car emits when attempting to turn over.

Yeah I suppose I'd have to either replace or recharge it before any other diagnostic. I was hoping for a potential reason as to how or why it would just flat out die like that though?

Haha...never heard of the term "chirp over".

Correct. Get a good battery in the car, and then listen for whether the fuel pump primes and whether there is bright white spark at all 4 spark plugs.

Also check for CEL codes.

Then go from there.
