Raising the Shift Boot
I recently picked up a DC Sports shift ****, when I put it on there is a gap between the boot and the bottom of the ****.
How can I get the shift boot up so that there is no gap?

You want to get the shift **** up? Or the boot?

Re: Raising the Shift Boot (mugenpowered)
i dont think there is a good looking way to raise up your boot. the only real help i can think of is to get a short shifter. they tend to sit lower than the stock sticks so that would help.

if you canput the consol and boot in all in one piece, wrap a thick rubber band around the shifter so when you put the boot and console on. the boot will only fall down so far

Re: (96accordlxf22b2)
I had that problem too but instead of raising the boot I threaded my shifter down further and then cut about 2 inches off the top and it made my shift **** sit lower
BTW I did this on an aluminum short shifter. I don't think I'd try it on the stock steel one. It was hard enough to rethread the aluminum...

electrical tape wrapped near the top of shifter thread. makes the shifter shaft thicker so it won't slide off simple. done

Thanks for all the suggestions, not sure if I will go with the zip tie or the pcv valve cover grommet or maybe the thick rubber band. Either way it looks like I have to remove the centre console.
How do you remove it? Once you have the shift **** off the shifter does it pull up and off or are there screws (if so where are they).
BTW, its a 1996 CX hatch, with no arm rest on the centre console.

I used a piece of rubber hose that fits snug over the shifter and inside the plastic piece at the top of the boot. After the **** is screwed down tight...just slide the boot up to the bottom of the ****.

Re: (bmoua)
there are 2 screws on the sides of the shift console under the cupholders. after that you need to remove the bolt cover on the ebrake console (it's right underneath the ebrake handle) and there are 2 bigger bolts in there. you can use a phillips screwdriver for all of this. after that your shift console will come right out. i got a shiftknob stuck on the end of my shifter (oh man, don't ask...) and my boot was falling very low (when i was angry trying to take the **** off i pushed the boot down low, bending the plastic pieces inside, causing it to sag), i removed the shift console and held it up while i broke a couple large rubber bands and tied them around the shifter right below the boot and ****...works like a charm and looks great. my shifter sits pretty high and i like the way it looks. boot never gets dirty anymore
reccomend this for FAQ thread. i can take pictures for a DIY?
