radiator woes and check engine light. need input/comments
One of my cars recently had a radiator incident and then I replaced the radiator with a used one I bought off HT. This is a civic with swapped b16a2. It's now throwing a check engine light, but i'll be able to rent a code reader tomorrow.
Anyways, I just wanted some input before I'm able to get the CEL code.
Here's a quick rundown:
I just replaced the radiator with a used one I bought. I was told the radiator was still good, but I can't be positive on that one yet.
Car had a major coolant leak at the heater core and all coolant leaked out while I was driving the car, temp gauge got pretty high, but only for a minute (I was very near my house and was able to drive home quickly).
I cleaned up the mess and replaced the heater core.
I filled up all the coolant levels and burped the system of air, ran the car until the fan came on twice, shut the car off, and checked/filled up any fluids.
Now, I run the car and it throws a CEL. The car idles rough from 1k-1500k rpm. The temp gauge stays in the normal area, and both radiator hoses get warm, so it would appear the cooling system is working at least.
Did I blow the head gasket when the car overheated that one time? Also, would a bad/leaking radiator throw a CEL and cause rough idle? Would a blown headgasket throw a CEL? Any other ideas?
any help is greatly appreciated~
