Radiator Fluid..

Radiator Fluid..
I posted a topic about how my car's idle jumps from 900 to 1500 constantly for a good 10 minutes then goes back to normal idle...today I drive home and my car is close to over heating and I pop the hood and come to find out I have Zero radiator fluid. Tomorrow i'm gonna go buy some to fill it up...I also found out that my radiator has a crack in it....my question is, is this why my idle's been "dancing" the way it has? And also if my radiator is cracked I need some suggestions on wich one to buy.

Nevermind, they run between a good $300 or so. Can I use the fan that came with my old one? Sorry for all the questions. I'm new to this and it's cold outside.

I hope the overheating problem gets taken care of by refilling the fluid...it's my only ride to work lol..any suggestions on radiator fluid? Like ones that already come pre-mixed, mix myself?

yes you can use the stock fan but a racing fan would be better

Yeah a race fan would be good. I got a stock D16Z6 With just a cold air intake. I plan to boost it later on so all of that will come in handy. Any suggestions on a fan? Before I get flamed for searching i'm looking for ones as we speak.

Prestone makes a premixed one, 50/50 I think is what it's called.

If you don't want it to freeze then you need to put anitfreeze in there. If you want to go the easy way just buy the 50/50 I mentioned.

i would reckomend mixing with distilled water. saves you money over the premixed prestone. i would just buy some distilled water, and whatever antifreeze you prefer.

I think I fucked up..instead of filling it through the radiator I filled it through the tank that tells u how much fluid u have...I havent had much sleep and I worked all day this is pissing me off..anyway the guy at autozone said for the winter 70% freeze 30% water..

Re: Radiator Fluid.. (oOJ-GrindOo)
I feel like I should just flush the damn thing and do it all over again tomorrow. The way I did it is way different then the way it was done in the haynes manual. I filled up the resivoir tank till it was full of antifreeze, then I put more into the radiator till it was full. I barely put any water in it..

Re: Radiator Fluid.. (oOJ-GrindOo)
Get the radiator fixed before you f up your engine and then 300 dollars for a fulidyne will look like nothing. then you will be spending 5 times that to get the rest fixed.

Reading the haynes manual it says to loosen the block drain bolts when u flush the radiator...I thought having water come out of the block like that was bad?

Re: Radiator Fluid.. (oOJ-GrindOo)
I didnt drain it or flush it..I just added the new antifreeze. I got Prestone extended life antifreeze/coolant. Any Make, mix with any color antifreeze. I think if I loosen the air bleed bolt over the thermostat housing and then I make sure no air bubbles are in there I'll turn the car on with the radiator cap off and and then fill up the radiator with more water and I should be fine.
