Ractive...
Ok, my stock header is cracked. I need a replacement. There arent' any junkyard around where I live with a used stock header. Factory Charges my two ***** for a stock replacement. I found a Ractive header for $170.
This is the only aftermarket Header under $200. This is also the only header that I have found to fit my 1998 civic lx, which needs 2 (o2) sensors slots. I know everyone say ractive is shitty, but won't this header be ok for my daily driver? I do not race or anything. I just want it to last and get me from point A to point B. Thanks.

Yea, that how I got the $170 price. That is the total price with shipping on ebay. Other sites that I have searched have the same header for $250.

Re: Ractive... (CereaLand)
my friend had it on his 4dr lx...looked good, worked better than stock.......I see no reason if its just for daily use not full extreme performance....you definately feel a diff due to the desgin. I've seen both dc and ractive and they pretty much look the same, the welds on the dc are a bit better but the ractive should hold its own I'm sure...mi dos centavos!!

Re: Ractive... (CereaLand)
You must be mistaken somewhere, because there are no aftermarket headers for the 1996-2000 Civic LX because the catalytic convertor is inside of the exhaust manifold. If companies list them for your car they are simply wrong. There's no way in hell they offer a header with a catalytic convertor in them.
You will need to locate an EX cat if you buy a header, and then have a muffler shop cut out a section of your exhaust to fit the cat post-header since your stock exhaust is set up for having the cat inside the exhaust manifold, meaning it will be hell long if you run a separate header and cat combo like the EX Civics.
God I hope you got this reply in time before you bid on any header.
Oh and I hope you didn't think I was talking down to you or belittling in any way. I was just telling you that those companies are trying to lie to people in order to sell products. My slight edginess is directed towards anyone who markets headers for your car, sells one to you, and then won't take it back when you realize that they lied.

Again they fed you bullshit.
I will not argue a point with you about this. I know for a fact that the catalytic convertor is located in the factory exhaust manifold.
You will not get a true header from an aftermarket company unless you plan on running no cat and still having to modify your exhaust.
I work at a shop and see these cars every day. My mother owns a 1997 Del Sol S which has the same D16Y7 engine in it as the LX Civic does. When her manifold cracked I had to find a used one because Honda wanted over $600.00 for it because of the cat inside of it.
I'm not trying to show my *** and contradict you just to try and make you look silly. I am just stating facts.
I have no doubt that some cheezy company markets headers for the D16Y7 DX/CX/LX engines, but they are misleading consumers if they do so.

Well I just seen the Ractive header. It does have two slots for the o2 sensors, but there is not a catalytic convertor inside of it. Just two slots to hold the sensors.

...and you will throw numerous check engine lights including "catalyst efficiency low" code which alone will fail any sort of emissions testing.

Look for a used one. f1uxx, here on HT, just bought my used DC header for $80 shipped. Deals are out there, just take your time looking. I've seen them go for $150 shipped on ebay before.

Re: Re: (CereaLand)
I have a 99 Civic DX!!!!!!
I have an Ractive 4-2-1 Header!!!!
I had a friend install it at Performance Exhaust. Header was around $175 shipped. It was a while ago, wish I could give you the site I found it at. Anyway, the exhaust manifold on any and every d16y7 engine has the cat inside the exhaust manifold. When he installed it, he took a high flow cat and relocated it underneath the car, similar to where it is on an Ex d16y8, and he also installed 2.25" piping on my exhaust.
When I left the dealership everything was working fine, then later that night, check engine light pops on and stays on. That was the worst feeling in the world. The next day he relocated both of my O2 sensors, and everything was fine. If you purchase a header for that engine, d16y7, no matter who it's made by, expect to purchase a new cat, and relocate both O2 sensors. The 2.25 piping was just something extra, you don't have to do that.
BTW: Never had any problems with the header. Had it for about 9 months. Expected it to be "cheap" because so many other headers are well about $175, but it was just fine.
