For the rear springs installation r u suppose to cut a hole in the back to get to the top of the shock towers to take the whole assembly off? need to know asap on how ek hatch owners go about taking out the rear springs and struts. Thanks in advance....

No just take the panel off...my hatch has been gutted for so long that I can't remember if there was an access to get to the top nuts on the strut assembly. Anyways, if there isn't an access, just take the panel off instead of cutting it.

No problem bro...it's just a couple of screws and then you can pull on the panel slowly and the clips will pop out. Damn I wish I could remember if there was an access hole. I thought there was one. You don't see a little square thing that pops out so you can get your hand back there?

I'm at work right now so i'll look later but i swear i didn't see any kind of panel that can pop out so i can get to it. I was just wondering what honda was thinking when they assembled the car knowing that the access to the rear assembly is gonna be a pain in the butt to get too.

I took the rear speakers out and you can get to the two strut tower bolts that way. Much easier than removing the whole panel.

Thats what i thought about doing but i didn't think it had enough room if doing by hand.

yeah to remove the panels you have to take out the back seats and everything. If its going to be something you will be adjusting regularly (ie adjustable shocks through the stem) then you might want some sort of access point. Other wise just make it a day project and take the panels out.

no it's just the springs that i'm putting in not adjustable. anybody else on here that has done the rear assembly on a hatch that did it through just by taking the rear speaker out?

removing the interior side panels means...removing the rear seat assembly

To remove the panels, you need to remove the seats. I don't think you need to remove the seats just to get behind the panels. You can pull them forward enough to get back there I think.

wouldn't it be easier if i just cut a whole into the side panel as to if i was to install a strut bar?

Ya if your gonna install one it would make sense. Get it over with. I didn't know you were going to install one when we first started this conversation. I could have told you that a long time ago.

You can do it through the speaker hole. If thats not enough room for you, you can easily pull the panel out to gain more access without totally removing everything. Thats what I did on mine anyway.

i am suprised by this whole post, if you have a deep socket and a swivel all you have to do is take out the rear speaker. It would be a waste of time to remove the panels because you do have to take out the rear seats. just don't drop the nuts cuz then you might have to take off the panel.

guess i'll do the speaker trick first to see if that works, if not then i'm just gonna cut a hole in the panel instead of taking the whole panel out. don't have a rear strut yet but will soon. Thanks again guys...

If you don't have one of those long socket extensions then you gotta open up the panel just enough to be able to unscrew the nuts. Theres a long panel that surrounds the rear hatch lock latch near the bumper that you have to take off. Then there's like 4 more screws in each side to take off.
