Default Quick EG Headlight Question

I know the stock headlamps for EG's are 9003's but would H4's work also? They look the same, but dunno if they'll work in place of the stock lamps.

Also, i'm having problems installing my stock lamps. There's screws that hold down a metal clip or something? WTF is that for? I've never encountered these 9003's before and replacing one for the first times a pain in the butt considering it should just be a 1-2-3 thing.

Thanks In Advance.

Are you sure? Cuz some people are saying the H4's are HID only and the 9003's are stock reg. headlamps.

now if they're the same...which one puts out more HID-like lighting? Meaning better results?

I've heard some people say they melted their wires with swapping in the H4's, and others have said its fine, so I'm not too sure

They are the exact same bulbs. They are the exact same wattage. Exact same size. Different manufactures just have different part numbers for them. The only way you will melt yor harness is if use higher than stock wattage. Pull the stock bulb out of your car. It will have H4 stamped on it.

^^^^exactly like he said. I work for a Honda dealer in Canada and over the past year, we have carried H4 and 9003 bulbs. The only difference is the part number that the manufacturer uses. NO DIFFERENCE at all!

Stay out of the APC isle and go to the stock bulb isle.

H4, 9003, and CB/2 are all the same thing. They are all available in different wattages. A stock h4, 9003, or cb/2 bulb 55w low 60w high.

I just went and yanked out the h4 bulb out of my del sol. Here's a pic.

Technically, 9003 and H4 are NOT the same. One is built to tighter tolerances due to vibration encountered in a motorcycle (H4).

A true 9003 will not fit in a true H4 housing, while a true H4 housing will fit in a true 9003 housing. A true 9003 has equal width lower tabs while a true H4's lower tabs are of a different size.

However, both sizes are now pretty much the same as there is no longer an issue about building the bulbs to tighter tolerances. In fact, most bulbs now have both "9003" and "H4" stamped on the base. The only thing you'll notice is price. Auto parts stores will sell one size a dollar or more than the other, even though they are probably the same bulb.

Do these H4s happen to be blue?

H4s sold by auto parts stores are 60/55.

You keep the screws. There's no reason to unscrew that clip. The clip operates similarly to a safety pin. You push the clip in and move it around the retaining hook and pop the clip out to get to the bulb.

Are you referring to the headlight as a whole? (lens, housing, etc) Or are you referring to just the lightbulb?

almost there. 9003 (HB2) bulbs are built to closer specs (smaller tolerances) than H4 bulbs. H4's (that do no meet 9003 specs) are not supposed to be used in US road cars, but they are allowed in motor cycles as well as off road vehicles.
